Vote To Create New Girl Group, Isyss’ Video With Ford

Isyss is an urban/pop female vocal group from Los Angeles. The members are Quierra Davis Martin, the 19 years old singer, Lamyia Good, 19, Ardena Clark, 18, and LeTecia Harrison, 17.

Apparently, it’s said that Arista Records President/CEO, Antonio “L.A.” Reid, signed the girls immediately when he first heard them. If you’re wondering what they’re like, well, critics have compared them to other R&B groups such as Destiny’s Child, Total and Xscape.

Anyway, in an elite partnership with major record label, Arista Records, Ford will showcase both production and tricked out Focus models in an online promotion that’ll featuring the girls from Isyss.

This is the first time that Ford has utilized an on-line video promotion to target the urban and African American markets. Ford, a leader in multicultural marketing efforts, worked with UniWorld Group Inc./Urban Force {Ford’s African American agency of record>, to develop this unique and innovative promotion.Officially titled “Focus on the Video.com”, the promotion will run from the 9th of July till the 29th and it invites participants to go to http://www.focusonthevideo.com
and select cast, clothes and car — Ford Focus ZX3, a Saleen modified ZX3, ZX5 or ZTS Mach Audio — to use in Isyss’ video for their next song ‘Single For The Rest Of My Life’ which you’ll be able to hear among others at their authorized cyberhome http://www.isyss-online.com

So what’s this “Focus on the Video” all about? Well, it’ll be an online promotion and sweepstakes inviting consumers to assist in the creation of a music video by vote. The promotion involves audiences going to the website, a colorful and youth-oriented site, to select cast, styling and a Ford Focus for Isyss’ new music video. Participants are given four choices from each category with the final tally to be determined on the last day of the promotion, the 29th of July. Choices with the most votes will be used in the production of Isyss’ new music video ‘Single For The Rest Of My Life’. The new video will be shown this summer while the group’s debut album, ‘The Way We Do’ will be released in September.

The sweepstakes component invites registered participants to enter to win a Ford Focus ZX3 or a $14,000 coupon towards a Ford Division vehicle.

Christina Milian Likes Britney And Her Link With The Shy Craig David

In an recent online chat, Christina Milian was asked about her association with UK’s prince of garage, Craig David.

Christina said “I’ve never had a date with him. I met him about a year ago at an awards show and he was kind of shy. Somehow he got in contact with me and got my email address. After that, we wrote back to each other once or twice. Since then I’ve seen him a few times and he’s complimented me but even now, he is still shy.”

She was also asked how she felt being compared to Britney Spears and she had the following to say.

“I think it’s a compliment because she is a superstar and I think everybody, especially if you are a young female, likes being compared to Britney. It’s like even if you’re Alicia Keys, it’s still ‘Ooohhh! Britney Spears, better watch out’, even though it’s two completely different types of music.”

“I think it’s because of the age that I’m compared to her. I think I’m a little bit more urban. As far as entertaining, singing and dancing are concerned, I like to sing live more. It’s a compliment and hopefully I can have the same success as she has. I like her.”

U2 Set To Release Single

U2 are apparently set to release a new single on the 21st of October.

At the moment, it’s unclear what the title of the song is going to be but the safe money is on the much talked about new song, ‘The Hands That Built America’, which has been heard on U2’s page http://www.u2.com and appears on the soundtrack to Martin Scorcese’s new film, ‘Gangs Of New York’.

The single is set to appear around a month before their second greatest hits collection arrives on the 18th of November. ‘Best Of 1990 – 2001’ will feature all of Bono and company’s singles from that period, such as ‘Even Better Than The Real Thing’, ‘One’, ‘The Fly’ and more.

Two DVDs are set to follow the release, one featuring the videos of their hits and the other featuring their gig at Slane Castle last year.

No Two Ways About Rayvon

Rayvon is of course the singer featured on Shaggy’s chart-topper of 2001, ‘Angel’ and he will releases his debut solo single, ‘Two Way’, on the 22nd of July through label, Universal-Island. It was initially to be out in stores in the UK on the 8th of July but for some unknown reason, the release date, as you can see, has been pushed back.

The vocalist’s real name is Bruce Alexander Michael Brewster and he was born in Barbados, moving to the US at the age of 12. Rayvon’s a veteran of the New York reggae scene. Teaming up with Shaggy for ‘Angel’, which also appeared on Shaggy’s multi-platinum selling ‘Hot Shot’ album of 2000, turned the little-known singer into an international star.

Rayvon’s first solo album, ‘My Bad’, will be released later this year.

I have heard the track and it’s a cool catchy number. You might want to go hear it out at his label site http://www.rayvon.com

You Never Met A Couple Quite Like These Two

Pamela Anderson’s tempestuous romance with rapper Kid Rock has hit the skids. The former Baywatch beauty broke off their engagement following a brutal two-day fight.

The unlucky-in-love blonde is telling friends that Kid Rock left her no choice after he publicly humiliated her.

But now the pair are talking in a desperate bid to patch up the rocky relationship, friends say.

The breaking point for the busty ‘VIP’ star came when the music bad boy, who had been on a drinking binge, got nasty and called her a bad mother in front of a roomful of celebrity friends, sources say.

“Pam is devastated. She thought she had finally met the man of her dreams, but now she fears he could turn out to be a nightmare” said a friend. The feuding began late May or early June when Kid Rock, whose real name is Bob Ritchie, began verbally browbeating his lover of more than a year. “Bob was on a real tear. They were hanging out at her Malibu home and he was going off on her about how she couldn’t do anything right. He even told her to her face she was ‘a joke in Hollywood'” said a friend.

Kid Rock crossed the line when, according to a source, he blurted out that maybe he should testify for her ex, Tommy Lee, 39, in his bitter custody battle with Pam for sons Brandon, 6 and Dylan, 4.

“That cut her deeply where it hurts most, with her kids” says a friend. “Pam tried to walk away, but he grabbed her arm and spun her around. It was terrible to watch someone treat a woman like that.”

With tears in her eyes, she told him it was over and left, say pals.

Think they get back together? Poor Pamela. Anyway, in the meantime, the sex bomb can be seen in Kid Rock’s new video ‘You Never Met A Motherf**ker Quite Like Me’, out in US of A.

Looks Like Austrlians Can’t Get Over Sophie’s Fashion Sense

Well, with all the money these pop people make, one would be forgiven if they thought they could at least afford a few decent threads to make them look glam and gorgeous!

The latest popstrel to have a visit from the fashion police is the usually-well-turned-out Sophie Ellis Bextor.

The chic chanteuse has been under fire for dressing like a dinner lady for a recent appearance on Australian television. Sophie opted for a dowdy pin-striped outfit that bore quite a strong resemblence to Mrs Mop’s finest granny apron. Aaaaarrgh! Gawd, Just what was she thinking, really?

One Australian worker said “I thought she was supposed to be this stylish Sheila but she looked as though she had come straight from working at a diner.”

Vanessa Carlton And Moby?

Possibly hoping to recreate the success of his duet with Gwen Stefani, Moby has asked Vanessa Carlton to write and sing on a remix of ‘Sunday (The Day Before My Birthday)’.

“It’s all in the works, really” Vanessa says. “We have to work our schedules out, but it’s very flattering.”

But Moby’s not the only one knocking on Vanessa’s door. You can catch her sweet voice on Counting Crows’ version of Joni Mitchell’s ‘Big Yellow Taxi’, taken off ‘Hardy Candy’, but you have to be tricky to find it since it’s a hidden track and all.

It’s also been reported that she will be featured in a fall ad campaign for Candies. You may remember their campy, colorful and provocative photo spreads with Sugar Ray’s Mark McGrath or Jenny McCarthy.

Vanessa’s debut ‘A Thousand Miles’ will be released in the UK on the 22nd of July.

Darius And Covers

Darius Danesh has said that failing to scoop the ‘Pop Idol’ title has been more of a blessing than a barrier.

Speaking to the newspapers, Darius confessed that failing to be the victor in the TV talent contest means he hasn’t been burdened with having to record a duff cover version, such as ‘Unchained Melody’. In fact, losing out to Will Young and Gareth Gates means he now has all the freedom he could bloody desire plus the ability to train his songwriting talent.

“If I’d won, I would have been a major nightmare. I wouldn’t have fitted into the mould. If I’d won, either the Pop Idol logo or I, would have imploded” explained the pop fellah “I have to be the person I am, ok”.

Once again, Darius was also keen to point out that it was actually his decision to turn down the opportunity to work with Simon Cowell. “I felt if I’d signed with BMG, then I would have been cashing my chips in” he reveals, reasoning “It was, in essence, ‘Nah! Here’s a suitcase full of money, take it and ask no questions, cover this song, yada, yada, yada’. With BMG, I was encouraged to release not only a cover, but two covers. Imagine this. I could have done a cover like Gareth. How great! You know, that doesn’t really inspire me.”

People are saying that this number of Darius is a cool one and I’m going to agree with the masses here. Am giving it 4 stars out of 5. Visit him at his official cyberhome, proudly positioned at

Ashanti’s Over-Protective Mother

Looks like Ashanti, when she was much younger, didn’t exactly hang out or, for that matter, date a lot of boys when she was growing up.

Recently, Ashanti revealed how her mom/co-manager Tina was so protective over the ‘Happy’ vocalistress. Ashanti said “In my group of friends, I was always the last one to do something like get phone calls or go to the movies. I’d always have to say to my mom ‘No, it’s only just me, Tiera, and Danielle. It’s just us going.'”

“You know, everybody else would be able to tell their mother, ‘Yeah! Mummy! David’s going and Brian too.’ Can you believe it? I was so mad and all my friends were like, ‘Dag, Shanti’s mother is too over-protective.'”

War Of Words Between Mel B and Geri Halliwell

Geri Halliwell and Melanie B are set to embark on a war of words when their autobiographies hit the shops on the same day.

Both Mel B’s Catch A Fire and Geri’s Just For The Record are set for release on 2nd of September. Both books seemingly chart the end of the Spice Girls’ working relationship, and of Mel and Geri’s own friendship.

A literary industry insider said “This will be the biggest battle between Spices for years.”

“Mel is already pretty sure that Geri will sell more copies” added the insider “but she knows both books coming out the same week will bring tremendous interest and make people talk about the Spice Girls again.”

Just For The Record is the follow up to Geri’s bestseller If Only.
