Mis-Teeq’s Successful American Invasion

No one seems more astonished by news that Mis-Teeq’s Scandalous was a hit in America than vocalist Sabrina Washington.

“We were told the song was being played on the radio and we were like, yeah, right,” she tells Alexis Petridis of the Guardian.

“It was only when I got to New York and heard the song being played in a shop that I realized it really was. It’s pretty amazing.”After four weeks promoting the single across the country, she thinks she has worked out the secret of Mis-teeq’s sudden success. “They love the English accent,” she said.

“They’re kind of amazed when we sing. We don’t sound American.”

“Our sound is very, very British. We’re not going to go out to America and try and imitate what Americans do, because they do it the best.”

Sue Elise added “Originality is definitely the key. We want to keep sounding as British as we can.”

Mis-Teeq will be coming back to the UK to work on new songs for an upcoming new album which will be out by November, according to the Eye Candy girls.

Dirt On Darius Danesh

Billy writes, “Darius recently promoted his CD which is quite good and everything with a UK concert tour. However, it may have been questionable for him to wear a kilt onstage, since he went “full Scottish”. Yes, from the angle of our photos, it is clear that Darius was 100% authentic in his look although somewhat abridged in his nether regions.”

Meanwhile, fans of Darius Danesh, do keep a lookout for his new material, set to come out later this year. Also, word has it that he is dating Kim Basinger. No one’s confirming anything at the moment.

Usher On His Confessions Album

Usher and girlfriend Rozanda ‘Chilli’ Thomas from TLC had a messy break-up last year.

Much of Confessions is inspired by that difficult time. “I don’t know where it starts and stops. I actually did go through it the way I talked about it,” he told Sky News. “Every album, I try to better myself as a performer and give more of me.”

Next up with Usher is his duet with Alicia Keys entitled My Boo. I have had the pleasure of hearing an exclusive listen to the song and it’s off the hook. Set to be a big smash. Look out for that.

Mandy Moore Loves The Beaches

Mandy Moore tells fans that she loves the beach when she’s at home in California.

“When I’m home in California, nothing makes my day more than driving to the beach alone,” Mandy said.

“I put the top down on my car and shamelessly sing along to my favorite songs. it kinda rejuvenates me.”

Mandy is currently working on a new batch of songs.

The People reports that Elton John is battling to bring former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham and husband David together after their fifth anniverary getaway to Morocco exploded into a series of disagreements.

“Elton is acting as a marriage guidance advisor,” a source revealed. “They respect his judgment and advice. He’s a great listener and isn’t taking sides. Mel B Expects Some Spice At Rent

Will any former Spice Girls be travelling to New York City to see Melanie Brown in Rent? “Both Emma Bunton and Mel C. Melanie Chisholm will be out before the end of the run,” Scary told The New York Daily News.

“Geri is very busy in LA and Vicky has so much going on in London.”

Mel B added that there’s no plans for a Spice Girls reunion. “It’s too soon,” she said.

Prince, Madonna Sold A Lot Of Tickets

Prince’s tour tops this year’s Pollstar list of 2004’s Top 100 Tours at the midway point of the year with $45.7 million in grosses. He has sold a total of 737k tickets, with an average gross of $1.038 million per show, based on an average ticket price of $61.59.

Madonna’s Re-Invention Tour comes in right behind selling $44.9 million worth of tickets. Madonna sold 258k total tickets at an average price of $174.17 (highest in the Top 100).

Madonna also has the largest average gross per show at a whopping $6.414 million. She has approximately another 642,000 further tickets sold for the remaining concerts. This will put Madonna’s total concerts in excess of $120,000,000 for 2004.

Britney comes in at number 13 moving 299K tickets for a total of 18.9 million.
